Heritage Skills HUB & The Prince’s Regeneration Trust

The Prince’s Regeneration Trust have secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to conserve the fabulous Montagu Monuments and aspects of Warkton Church in which they reside. Hugely important, the project will include two unique work placement opportunities – but time is short, so we are looking for interested people NOW!

Heritage Skills HUB is working with the Trust to manage the following work placements:

1) Digital (video) record – Someone to undertake a digital record project of the process to dismantle, clean and re-assemble the most important monument – to John, Duke of Montagu. Work is to start in February, so this placement is required as soon as possible. This would be an ideal project for a digital media student or recent graduate with an interest in the historic built environment or building conservation graduate with strong digital media skills.

2) Conservation Experience – The opportunity to gain exposure to other elements of the project including the exterior works to drainage, ironworks and hands-on cleaning of the monuments. This placement will start later in the Spring, although expressions of interest are sought now. This project will be of interest to a building conservation student or recent graduate or post-graduate looking to enhance their specialist work portfolio.

Site management will be undertaken by Skillingtons who are the contractor responsible for the project, although Project Management of the work placements will be managed by the Heritage Skills HUB with support from the Prince’s Regeneration Trust and Skillingtons.
