{"id":929,"date":"2018-08-16T15:53:43","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T15:53:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/awards.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=929"},"modified":"2018-08-16T15:53:43","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T15:53:43","slug":"ihbc-rural-panel-call-for-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/awards.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=929","title":{"rendered":"IHBC RURAL PANEL &#8211; Call for Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PANEL PURPOSE<\/strong><br \/>\nThe purpose of the panel is to raise the profile of IHBC by providing a view on rural matters\u00a0on which the Institute is consulted, be proactive by raising rural issues and also sharing\u00a0important developments.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for someone who is willing to take on some of the following tasks:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0going to the IHBC&#8217;s policy meeting (twice per year)<\/li>\n<li>scanning the internet for items of interest ( you can do this from home!)<\/li>\n<li>attending Heritage Alliance meetings, attending other similar meetings,<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">and responding to consultations on rural matters relating to the<br \/>\nhistoric environment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>CURRENT PANEL ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION<\/strong><br \/>\n1) CAP Reform (may of course become something else post Brexit)<br \/>\n2) Changes in Planning Policy for redundant rural buildings, especially farm<br \/>\nbuildings.<br \/>\n3) Countryside Stewardship (also likely to change)<br \/>\n4) Rural planning generally to include building conservation, and archaeological<br \/>\nissues in the rural context.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOME OF THE CURRENT PANEL DISCUSSIONS&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) Working with the Heritage Alliance notably the Rural Advocacy Group (HA represents\u00a0100 organizations in the heritage field). HA are engaged in Brexit discussions about\u00a0the funding of traditional farm buildings, small villages, field boundaries, ancient\u00a0monuments, woods and parkland, to name but a few.<\/p>\n<p>2) The impact of the changing economics of farming. Elderly farmers struggling<br \/>\nto carry on a way of life, which is not economically viable for many would-be<br \/>\nyounger farmers.<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0Curtilage of listed buildings, in particular whether farm buildings can be considered to\u00a0be in the curtilage of a farmhouse \u2013 influencing HE policy on this matter.<\/p>\n<p>4) Concerns about \u2018permission in principle\u2019 and what it will mean for farm building<br \/>\nconversions as well as the new extensions to \u2018permitted development\u2019 reference the<br \/>\ndesign of farm building conversions being over-ridden by other planning matters, and\u00a0the possible effect on archaeological sites.<\/p>\n<p>5) The impact of lack of LA conservation staff in rural areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you feel you want to develop your skills in Rural Issues and contribute to some areas of this, become part of this Panel! <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>If you want to have an informal chat feel free to contact IHBC at <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">support@ihbc.org.uk<br \/>\n<\/span>There is no deadline and you can apply anytime.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PANEL PURPOSE The purpose of the panel is to raise the profile of IHBC by providing a view on rural matters\u00a0on which the Institute is consulted, be proactive by raising rural issues and also sharing\u00a0important developments.
